Bank Aston was granted a banking license by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission in 2025. Join us on our journey as we progress towards full authorisation in 2026.

OUR HISTORY

The Aston brand is synonymous with high-quality, customer-focused financial services in Guernsey.

Our Co-Founders have run sister company Aston Currency Management for over a decade, providing treasury execution, spot FX, hedging and multi-currency transactions to clients.

 

We are proud of our heritage in Guernsey and we are passionate about contributing positively to the community through philanthropic initiatives. From our home in the Channel Islands, Bank Aston sees Guernsey as a gateway to global markets and is excited to shake up the offshore banking sector.

James Bennett

James began in financial media before building a Swiss wealth management firm, combining financial market knowledge with a customer-first approach. 13 years ago, they acquired a UK payments company, sparking his journey in currency and banking. He is CEO of Aston Currency Management in Guernsey and the UK.

Jay Goss

Ex-Royal Marine Jay established Guernsey-based Aston Currency Management in 2013 alongside James, where he is Chief Commercial Officer. A proud Guernsey resident and ultra distance athlete, Jay is heavily involved in the local community and is the main driver behind Aston’s community and philanthropic efforts.

Kevin Brown

With 40 years' experience in a variety of banking roles, Kevin is a member of the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Payment Systems Regulator in Regulatory Decisions and Enforcements, and recently stepped down as a Senior Independent Director and Risk Committee member at the Bank of England on the RTGS/CHAPS Board after seven years. A former Global Head of Transaction Services at Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), Kevin also set up and chaired the UK’s Faster Payments Scheme.

Paul Gorman

Paul has been working on building Bank Aston’s bank applications for the last 18 months (to June ‘25). With more than 20 years’ financial services experience, mainly in banks, he was formerly Chief Operating Officer at Aston Currency Management and set up Aston CM (Guernsey) Ltd just over two years ago. From 2013 to 2020, Paul was Head of FX, International Payments and International Cash Management for Santander UK, and before that he was in Corporate Risk Management at Barclays Capital.

Will started with Bank Aston in mid-September as Chief Financial Officer, joining the company after eleven years in Zurich, Switzerland with Credit Suisse. He was most recently Managing Director and Deputy CFO of Credit Suisse AG Parent Bank, overseeing the transition of key Finance processes to UBS whilst ensuring continued capability and governance. Before the merger Will was Group Head of Liquidity Management since relocating to Zurich in 2014. Before moving to Switzerland, Will spent more than two decades in Guernsey with Credit Suisse.

Michael joins Bank Aston from Landesbank Baden-Wurttemberg, one of Germany's largest banks, where he was Group Head of Traded Risk operating across London and Stuttgart. He previously spent a decade at Credit Suisse, most recently serving as Country CEO for Ireland and before that as Chief Risk Officer for Credit Suisse entities in Ireland and Germany, and Head of Global Treasury and Liquidity Risk. Prior to Credit Suisse, Michael spent eight years at Royal Bank of Scotland Group as Chief Risk Officer for Group Treasury. A Professor at Harz University of Applied Science and Visiting Lecturer at ETH Zurich, he has co-authored over 50 publications on risk subjects.

Roy is a former CEO of Credit Suisse AG in the Channel Islands, a position he held for a decade before stepping down in 2016. During his tenure he oversaw the merger of the bank's private banking operations across Guernsey, Gibraltar and the UK, and also headed its European equities operations. Before joining Credit Suisse in 2004, Roy was Group Head of Risk and Compliance at SG Hambros Bank & Trust. He is currently President of the Guernsey Tax Tribunal and holds a variety of NED roles in the financial sector, including Imperium Group Holdings and several banking and financial services firms across the UK, the Islands and Gibraltar.

Claire brings over 40 years' banking experience to Bank Aston's Board. She is the former Co-Head of Rothschild & Co Bank International in Guernsey, where she spent 13 years, and before that held senior roles at the Bank of Bermuda and Bank of Scotland. A seasoned NED, Claire sits, and has sat, on several boards in Guernsey including the boards of LSE investment companies, private equity firms and Rothschild & Co Bank International. At Bank Aston, Claire focuses on audit and risk governance.
